INTRODUCTION TO CHEMISTRY: WHAT IS CHEMISTRY? video & lesson (definition and branches)

Chemistry can be said to be a natural science that studies the composition, properties, uses, structure of matter and the reaction matter undergoes. in short, we can say that chemistry is the study of the CPU (that is composition, properties and uses ) of matter and the changes that occur in matter. while studying the concept of chemistry, we need to understand that chemistry is a tangible science because the knowledge of chemistry will enable one study the occurence of things around you, that is how the environment interacts. 

From the definition given above, it is quite important that we put some terms into consideration, this words include; properties, composition, uses, reactions and matter. everything that exists on this planet, either living or non-living, is matter and therefore it must possess some specific properties, composition, it must be useful one way or the other and lastly they must react.
matter has been defined as anything that has mass and occupies space. This means that everything in the universe. while mass is thee quantity of matter in a body. We use the word mass to define matter because it does not vary from place to place. Therefore, it is important to note that chemistry is concerned about the universe, that is why it is called the nucleus of life. this also extends to the fact that chemistry is a central science.

chemistry as a central science cut across other branches of science so as to fully explain the concept of matter. we should also know that the study of matter with respect to structure is  a very important view of chemistry. so we can say that the study of structure in chemistry is very important.  other branches of science that chemistry cut across  are shown below;
